Beryl-spangled Tanager, near Mindo

Arguably one of the most colorful of a large family of beautiful birds, the Beryl-spangled Tanager can be found in the temperate zone on both slopes of the Andes. This one was feeding young on the grounds of the Sachatamia Lodge.
